Spray-applied polyurea protective coatings and liners outperform most other types of conventional containment systems in AK, can be applied over many types of properly prepared surfaces and substrates, and can be installed quickly and economically in all climate conditions.
EPA Mandates Secondary Containment
The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 40, Protection of the Environment, makes it federal law to positively contain hazardous wastes or constituents. These regulations require a secondary means of containing spilled materials, which contain hazardous chemicals (Section 265.190 - .193; 40 CFR). Secondary containment must function effectively for a period of time sufficient to allow proper spill clean up without damage to the environment (Section 265.196; 40 CFR).
The regulations also assert the porous nature of concrete and advocate the application of a liquid-applied monolithic polymer membrane as the most reliable means of secondary containment is. Polyurea spray elastomer technology is exactly the type of liquid-applied monolithic membrane that serves the requirements.
